Translation needed[edit source]

Hello Aliwal2012...is it possible to translate the Swalala wikipedia page to English since the majority language here is SiSwati and about 99% of the inhabitants understand English! Bhekimate (talk) 21:57, 17 Pherekgong 2017 (SAST)[reply]

Hi, the translated article was created by me today 15/9/2018 on English wiki. Regards, --Aliwal2012 (talk) 19:16, 15 Lewedi 2018 (SAST)[reply]

Community[edit source]

Greetings, Aliwal2012. I'm doing some research on the various Wikipedias in South African languages and noticed that SePedi has had spectacular growth in the last few years unlike most others. I'm hoping to gain some understanding of the cause and so am contacting you as a leading member of the community. Perhaps I can do an interview or submit questions?

Thanks! Michaelgraaf (talk) 12:54, 13 Dibatsela 2017 (SAST)[reply]

Hi, you are most welcome to ask me questions! --Aliwal2012 (talk) 15:25, 13 Dibatsela 2017 (SAST)[reply]

Module Errors[edit source]

Hi Aliwal

Do you perhaps have any idea of how to go about debugging the Lua modules that are throwing errors in the reference templates. It is happening on a number of site but this Cape Town site is an example of what is happening.

Thanks

Phillip (talk) 10:29, 13 Phupu 2022 (SAST)[reply]

Hi Philip! No idea, but it is disturbing that its on every page now! Aliwal2012 (talk) 10:43, 13 Phupu 2022 (SAST)[reply]
PS: A word of caution to you: I see in this wiki's edit history that since last night you have been fidling with a range of templates/modules/settings etc. This is surely the cause of the Lua errors experienced, maybe you should consider rolling back your edits, or get a specialist to fix it!
Urgently, please!! --Aliwal2012 (talk) 10:55, 13 Phupu 2022 (SAST)[reply]
Hi Aliwal
Most of the templates/modules/settings that I have edited have been additions as they have not been present in articles that I have edited. I did revert the " Module:Citation/CS1/Configuration"‎ CS1 template which seems to have removed the lua errors on the Cape Town page. However the template in the Ramaphosa page seems to be left justified now and is much wider that it should be. Would you perhaps be able to suggest any specialist that I could talk to?
Thanks,
Phillip (talk) 21:31, 18 Phupu 2022 (SAST)[reply]
Hi Philip, message read, but don't have an answer now.

I have just asked a question in [meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech] about this. I see that your Margate article is appears fine but you have not used the "cite news" template. Lets hope that meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech people will be able to come up with some advice. You may have noticed that I have used the word "lešabašaba" for the sandbox in nso. I did this as I could not find any implementation of the "sandbox" Phillip (talk) 21:48, 18 Phupu 2022 (SAST)[reply]

Hi Aliwal I have just finished editing the links in the Cyril_Ramaphosa article. It would seem that we have fixed most of the problems with the templates. Much of the text is still from a google machine translation using their recently released Sepedi engine. As such, I hope that other readers will improve on the quality of the text with time. I have tried to be consistent in using Sepedi months and using "pilione" for a billion. Please do have a look at it. Your comments would be most appreciated. On another note I see that Wikipedia is singning me using Pupu (July) instead of Mosegamanye (June). Do you have any idea as to how we could correct this? Thanks.
