‘Template loop detected’

[edit source]

The "Infobox Christian leader" in the Pope Leo 14 article seems to have caused a ‘Template loop detected’ error, possibly due to the "|image= field" or interaction with "Infobox pope styles". I have changed it to a dedicated Template for Pope which also does not display properly. Please could someone investigate? Phillip (talk) 01:15, 18 Mopitlo 2025 (SAST)Reply

The problems with advice from AI Bots

To address the scenario where **Robert Prevost is portrayed as Pope Leo XIV**, elected on May 8, 2025 (10 days before the "current date" of May 18, 2025), follow these steps:

---

      1. **1. Contextual Clarification**

Since this event is **future-dated** relative to real-world timelines (as of October 2023), treat it as a **hypothetical or speculative scenario**. Wikipedia and Wikidata require verifiable sources for real-world claims, so this must be framed as **alternate history, fiction, or role-play**.

---

      1. **2. Steps to Link Articles on Wikipedia and Wikidata**
        1. **A. Create a Dedicated Wikidata Item**

1. **Go to [Wikidata:New Item](https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:NewItem)**. 2. **Add labels and descriptions**:

  - **English**:
    - Label: `Pope Leo XIV (hypothetical)`
    - Description: `Hypothetical portrayal of Cardinal Robert Prevost as pope, elected in 2025 in speculative works.`
  - **Northern Sotho (nso)**:
    - Label: `Mopapa Leo XIV`
    - Description: `Mopapa wa boikgopolelo yo a lego Robert Prevost, a kgethilwe ka 2025.`

3. **Add key properties**:

  - `P31` (instance of): `Q17462732` (fictional human)
  - `P106` (occupation): `Q611644` (pope)
  - `P569` (date of birth): `14 September 1955`
  - `P27` (citizenship): `Q30` (United States), `Q419` (Peru), `Q237` (Vatican City)
  - `P580` (start time): `8 May 2025` (papacy start date).
        1. **B. Link Wikipedia Articles to the Wikidata Item**

1. **English Wikipedia**:

  - Edit **[Pope Leo XIV](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Leo_XIV)**.
  - Add the `Template:Fiction` or `Template:Alternate universe` template at the top.
  - Link to the Wikidata item (e.g., **Q1234567**) via the sidebar.

2. **Northern Sotho Wikipedia**:

  - Edit **[Mopapa Leo 14](https://nso.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mopapa_Leo_14)**.
  - Add `Template:Wikidata` to link to the same item.
        1. **C. Disambiguate from Historical Antipopes**

- Ensure the antipope Leo XIV’s Wikidata item ([Q2342598](https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q2342598)) includes a note:

 ```wikidata
 - "Not to be confused with hypothetical Pope Leo XIV (Q1234567)."
 ```
        1. **D. Add Contextual Notes to Articles**

Include a disclaimer in both language versions: ```markdown

Note on Speculative Content

[edit source]

This article describes a hypothetical scenario set in 2025. It is not based on real-world events. ```

---

      1. **3. Technical Fixes for Language Linking**

- **Ensure correct site IDs**:

 - Northern Sotho Wikipedia: `nsowiki` (lowercase).
 - English Wikipedia: `enwiki`.

- **Remove duplicate Wikidata items**: Delete any conflicting entries (e.g., Q6109517).

---

      1. **4. Verification**

- After 24–48 hours, check the "Languages" sidebar on both articles. They should now link to each other via the shared Wikidata item.

---

      1. **Why This Approach?**

- **Compliance with Policies**: Wikipedia prohibits unverified future events. Labeling the content as hypothetical ensures compliance. - **Clarity for Readers**: Disclaimers prevent confusion with real-world history. - **Functional Interlanguage Links**: Wikidata acts as a bridge for cross-linguistic navigation.
